Customers subscribe (paying a monthly fee) to receive texts from the journalist/columnist/writer/contributor of their choice. Perhaps the subscriber wants to be an "insider" regarding their favorite sports team, city hall happenings, arts & entertainment, etc., ...this format allows them to do so.
